First time building from source was a breeze! Can't remember when it last failed for me. Curious how many actually build it vs just grabbing the binaries.

Totally agree! Building from source gives that extra peace of mind. Plus, you can customize settings if needed. Big ups to the devs for keeping it smooth!

I'm sticking with the precompiled binaries. Just running a full node, not a wallet anymore.

Saw they added a privatebroadcast option with short-lived Tor or I2P connections. That's a big win for privacy!

Wait, is that feature actually in this release?

Just synced the full Bitcoin Core 30.2. Took me around 50 hours to get all 810GB downloaded! Fast SSDs and good internet really help. Running a full node feels empowering, I can verify my own transactions now.

Been building from source since way back! Feels way more secure and it’s not that time-consuming.

#11 Dec 25, 2020, 03:54 AM I just restored my legacy wallet with v30.2 and it had 41 BTC in it. Did a test transfer but it got stuck because I wasn't fully synced yet.

#12 Dec 25, 2020, 04:03 AM This probably isn't the best place for it, but can you share more details? Transaction IDs might help troubleshoot.

#18 Dec 27, 2020, 02:09 AM People still arguing about binaries vs building from source? Just get an SSD and check your hashes.

#19 Dec 28, 2020, 05:03 PM The pruning feature is a lifesaver for those low on hard drive space!

#20 Dec 28, 2020, 10:15 PM Is anyone really arguing? I just prefer building from source. It’s not hard, but totally get that others prefer binaries.
