Beware When Buying Used ASICs

Hey everyone, Just wanted to share my experience buying from asicjungle.com. They delivered, so they're legit, but we hit a snag. They sold us used gear with a DOA warranty, which they didn’t honor. After months of chasing them, nothing came through. Honestly, we only took the gamble on those S19s because of that warranty.

Used gear typically comes with no guarantees, right? It’s often just a quick check or a straight swap if it’s dead. I guess if you’ve got cheap electricity, you might roll the dice like that.

Hey, Let’s clarify this. The client bought used machines from us and we had a 5-day DOA policy. They were supposed to send us the serial numbers and issues, but instead, they took the gear to someone else without following our process. Not cool.

If a seller doesn’t offer DOA, you’re probably getting broken stuff. Nice to see you responded, but let’s see if the OP has anything to counter your point. Plus, you ignored the fact that if you promised to pay, that overrides your DOA policy. @OP, can you show us the initial messages about this DOA and any promises of payment?

Seriously makes me wonder why people skip escrow for mining gear. Maybe they just don’t trust anyone. Like, wouldn’t it be smarter to verify the equipment before shipping? Avoid all this DOA mess.

After digging through emails, there’s nothing about a refund mentioned. We offered replacements for their non-working machines and I don't see any reason for them to have spent their own cash fixing things.

Honestly, who in their right mind wants to deal with used mining gear? I’ve turned down tons of offers. Testing is a pain too. You run it for a bit and think it’s good, but then issues pop up later. Shipping also wrecks stuff sometimes. @OP, got any proof of Alex promising you payments?

Buying second-hand gear happens often, but we only partner with trustworthy firms. Defects are usually low. OP can say how many issues were in their batch, but I bet it’s within the normal range.

If you have DOA service from a seller across the country, it’s easy to get scammed. In Russia, buyers check the gear first before buying. Lots of horror stories about people getting bamboozled buying cheap stuff from China. Sometimes they profit, but often they get wrecked.

Escrow for used gear is pretty rare. They’d need to test it first, which is a hassle. I've bought tons from China, and the sellers who care about their rep usually offer DOA.

Yeah, I get your point. Your partner had no real incentive to cheat you, especially if you were paying a fair price. But if you were buying at super-low prices, I bet they wouldn’t have followed through.

For those without a solid contact in China for testing gear, it is risky buying second-hand. If mining is good where you are, there are options locally. Sometimes quicker and cheaper too.

We’re situated in North America, not China at all.

Quick update: AsicJungle said it was a misunderstanding. Their sales guy promised payment for repairs we did and asked for an invoice. Their DOA policy requires returns, so I guess trusting customers doesn’t go far for small repairs. They did fix some machines we sent back, but shipping costs added up fast.

AsicJungle does have a DOA warranty, but for minor issues, you still need to send it back. That’s where we messed up. We sent back the units needing repairs but tried to fix the simple stuff.

Glad to see this getting sorted, but it’s concerning it took so long to get a response, and that a thread had to be created for them to address it. Case closed in my opinion, so no more feedback for Asic Jungle.

Not sure who Gabrics is, but some statements are off. We didn’t promise any payouts in writing. If we did, show us and we’ll stick to it. This was sorted via email, and after explaining our policy, they decided to bring it here. ASIC Jungle has sold tons of ASICs worldwide with high standards, but we have to protect ourselves.

I agree, AsicJungle is LEGIT and they delivered what was promised. Can’t change the thread title though. I’ll edit my post to clarify the issue we had so it’s more understandable.
