Starting July 1, AUSTRAC's rolling out new AML checks for VASPs under this Travel Rule thing. This is part of a bunch of planned reforms since 2025, some of which have been live since March 31. It's tough for those legacy services.

Honestly, this is just gonna push people to withdraw their funds and use sketchy channels to cash out. Perfect setup for money laundering to thrive.

I heard from folks in Thailand and the Philippines that swapping crypto there is a breeze compared to the hassle in Russia. They’ve got strict laws, but enforcement isn’t as heavy.

Yeah, I remember when the Philippines had strict regulations, but they eased up after they got a lot of complaints. Not sure if it was officially revoked or just exchanges trying to keep customers happy.

AUSTRAC’s rules might aim for good, like fighting money laundering and making Bitcoin more legit, but tracking every user’s activity feels too much. This could turn investors off since Bitcoin was supposed to be free from third-party control.

AUSTRAC is basically Australia’s financial intelligence agency. In the Philippines, you don't even need centralized exchanges to cash out. Lots of private intermediaries can handle it. Centralized exchanges can freeze your assets, so why do people still use them?

Agreed. Too many rules can push good people to make bad choices. New laws should be rolled out with caution, but it feels like the government is just throwing them out without thinking.

That reminds me of a book I read. The author said the government needs criminals to maintain power. If there aren’t enough, they create laws that make everyone a criminal. Who wants a country full of law-abiding citizens anyway?

Wow, I need to save that quote. It’s like my country’s situation. I thought it was just chaos, but it seems like a lot of this is planned. The conspiracy vibes are real.

That quote’s from Sani Abacha, a former Nigerian leader. Conflicts in Africa have been going on forever. It’s crazy how little attention it gets from the West.
