People keep saying millions of Bitcoins are lost, but I think that's a huge misconception. Like, just because they haven't moved for ages doesn’t mean they’re gone forever. Many holders just keep their coins for years without touching them.

For real, I’ve seen tons of stories about lost Bitcoin. But honestly, how many are true? Newbies especially forget their seed phrases and end up losing access. That's just sad.

Funny enough, I started a thread discussing how lost coins can actually benefit others. A lot of people think all unspent Bitcoin are lost until they're moved. But in reality, many just sit untouched because folks are holding for the long haul.
I gotta disagree there, looking at lost Bitcoin positively. Sure, fewer coins can lead to higher prices due to scarcity, but it also sucks for those who lose their keys. It's a double-edged sword.
Lost Bitcoin isn’t weakening the network, it’s kinda the opposite. It reduces the supply, which could boost value. And yeah, long-term holdings aren’t really lost; they’re just not moving.

Exactly. If someone forgets their wallet's seed phrase, those coins are stuck forever. It’s wild how many articles throw around numbers about how much Bitcoin is lost. honestly, it’s all speculation.
Even if Bitcoin is ‘lost’ because of private key issues, it still exists on the Blockchain. It’s not like they vanish. Every lost coin is just a donation to the network, making real Bitcoin more scarce.
Totally agree. Lost Bitcoin means we can’t access it, but it’s still part of the total supply. So, yeah, it becomes a waiting game if someone remembers their keys.
Why do people think lost Bitcoin hurts the market? More like it makes Bitcoin even scarcer and could push prices up. Those coins are gone unless someone finds a way back in.
Right? It’s just about perception. Sure, they’re lost, but they still make the Bitcoin that’s out there more valuable. The misconception is strong with this one.
You know, we can’t really tell what’s lost just because it’s been sitting there for years. Some people just hold onto their coins without any plans to sell.

I heard the same thing. Private keys gone? Yeah, those coins are lost. But still, if it hasn’t moved in ages, how do we really know? It could just be a long-term holder.
Honestly, the whole idea of lost Bitcoin makes me nervous. It’s real, and some people can’t ever access their coins again due to forgetting keys.
You all are missing the point! Losing a private key doesn’t mean the Bitcoin is gone forever, just means it’s inaccessible for now.

Plus, there are ways coins can be lost through other methods, like sending them to the wrong address. That’s totally on the user.
I’d love for this topic to get more attention. Experienced folks could weigh in. It’s such a good learning moment for us newbies.
Satoshi’s wallets are an interesting topic too. Just because they haven’t moved doesn’t mean the coins are lost. Who knows if he’s alive or not?
Totally. There are Bitcoins that can’t be recovered, like if you totally lose the seed phrase. Those are the real lost coins.
LOL, that dude James Howells and his hard drive full of Bitcoin? That’s tragic. But yeah, those coins are lost for good.
What do we even call Bitcoin that’s in a wallet with no access? Seems lost to me. And then you’ve got coins sent to the wrong address, those are just burnt.
