Advice for Buying ASIC Miners

Hey folks, I’m new to mining and trying to figure out what ASIC miner to grab. Been researching a lot but prices are crazy. IceRiver looks promising but it’s sold out everywhere. eBay has insane markups. Any suggestions on where else to look? Do I trust that asicminervalue site that says Akminer and others are solid?

You gotta understand, not all coins are equal. Bitcoin is the main one and the rest are mostly altcoins, many of which aren’t worth much… So yeah, keep the Bitcoin chat here. If you wanna discuss altcoins, that’s for another thread. For buying rigs, stick to official manufacturers or authorized sellers only.

It would help to know what country you’re in and what power you have available. Can you handle the noise from mining gear? What’s your budget? Are you looking to make a profit or just trying it out? Oh sorry, I meant to say I’m focused on Bitcoin, looking at the Antminer S19j Pro. I heard Whatsminer is good too. Trying to decide between getting the latest gear or starting with something used. I’m in the US, 220V, noise isn’t an issue. I’m okay with spending over $5k if the ROI looks good. Ideally, I’d like to break even in 6 months. Can I reach out with more questions later?

C’mon, calling all altcoins crap isn’t fair. Sure, there’s a ton of junk out there, but some like Ethereum and Dogecoin are solid. Honestly, I’d avoid used mining rigs. Better to go for new ones because you never know how long the used ones will last.

Dude, saying ETH is good? Nah, it’s a total joke, man. That guy has messed up the GPU market big time. I can’t stand ETH and I’m still waiting for 2 ETH coins from that dude. But remember, we’re in the BTC section, not chatting about altcoins.

Every country has taxes, but I know miners in Russia pay for equipment upfront and just pick it up. Your seller can help with that. If it’s home mining, customs docs aren’t needed.
