- Backing Up Multiple Seeds with BIP-85Dec 11, 2025
You're focusing too much on altcoins. If you broaden your crypto interests to trading, BIP-85 probably won't even be on your radar. As a newbie, there's a ton to learn about BIPs, and it can be overwhelming.
- Backing Up Multiple Seeds with BIP-85Dec 11, 2025
I noticed Electrum isn't on the BIP-85 support list. I checked their GitHub, and it seems the devs think Electrum's current mnemonic recovery is sufficient.

Good call, using a mini PC instead of a Pi might be wiser. Better CPU performance and storage options.

I have a few RPi 4Bs around. My oldest setup is a RaspiBlitz with a 1TB SSD. I also have an Umbrel node for some testing. Soon grabbing a RPi5 to upgrade.

I’ve got a minimal Raspibolt setup with just Tor and Bitcoin Core on a Raspberry Pi 4B. Might not be fast, but it works.

I wanted to suggest Raspibolt but their guide is outdated for the RPi OS based on Debian Bookworm.

Props to the developers for optimizing the transaction sizes. Satoshi aimed for anyone to run a node easily. The whole satoshi cap of 21 million was calculated with long-term sustainability in mind.

That’s a solid setup. I’ve got around 682GB in blocks and 11GB for chainstate. Running on a 1TB Silicon Power SSD as well. If my RPi5 turns out well, I plan on getting an Argon case and maybe a 2TB m.2 drive.

Wow, two years is ages. What’s your setup now? Umbrel seems to be the favorite. By the way, don't use Raspberry Pi for Start9, it’s not a good fit for running Bitcoin software.

I didn’t list RaspiBolt first for a reason. When’s the last time you used Start9? It's in beta, a bit lacking in features and setup can be a hassle. If you’re not ready to follow instructions, don’t bother.

Raspiblitz, Umbrel, myNode... those are popular choices.
- Solo Mining with Python and Bitcoin CoreJan 25, 2022
ccminer isn't the fastest though, it's pretty slow compared to other benchmarks I've seen.
- Solo Mining with Python and Bitcoin CoreJan 22, 2022
So you're saying it just won't work? I mean, I guess I can get the program to run, but no one's really gonna use it if solo mining doesn't pay off.
- Introducing PBpool: A New Way to Solo MineJun 9, 2021
Honestly, the success of this whole thing really hinges on community support. I mean, running a solo pool is cool, but if it’s just one miner, hitting a block is gonna be super rare. How do you plan to reach out to…
Solar’s clean, so it's popular, but what about methane or hydrogen? Are they actually powering grids in the States?
I’m not sure if this methane initiative is common in the US. I haven’t seen much about it powering Bitcoin miners before. Sounds like a gimmick unless it’s specifically for mining.
Not sure how realistic that Salary Explorer info is for Ethiopia. ASICs are pricey and that’s a huge barrier for a lot of folks. Hope they have that entrepreneurial drive or it might flop.
Totally agree! Every step forward means more bitcoin adoption. Hoping this initiative turns out great. It’s historic for Ethiopia, but I wonder how many miners are actually there. If most locals can’t afford mining…
