- Handling Custom Redeem Scripts in P2SHMar 25, 2026
To spend from it, just use a simple command as the unlocking script. But too bad no one can directly control it through Bitcoin Core.

I get it, but it’s still tricky. Sure, Bitcoin scripts can be complex, but in the end, you just need it to result in "TRUE". That’s not rocket science.

Got it! It’s wild that you can build a transaction here then broadcast it in Bitcoin Core without a hitch, but you can’t do the whole thing directly in the client.

Seriously! If importmulti with scriptPubKey and redeem script can only make watch-only addresses, what’s the point of it? You can already get that with a public address.

Can you give an example of a standard P2SH address along with its redeem script? I can't seem to find any working examples despite the manual saying it’s possible.

I confirm this. Using importaddress will just give you a watch-only address. But importmulti is supposed to let you use redeem scripts, right? Still confused about how to make it work...

Ugh, this is so annoying! The Bitcoin Core manual claims you can import a scriptSig with a redeem script, yet all I can do is add it as a watch-only address. I need to crack this!

Creating custom scriptSig and scriptPubkey is a breeze. You can calculate a P2SH address and spend from it with some manual steps. Like, here's an example: scriptSig: 080123456789abcdef scriptPubkey:…
Yup, syncing Bitcoin Core and parsing blocks is a mission. Not easy at all. Which parser are you using now? I updated my address list a while back, but it was a slog.
Yeah, that’s cool if you’re just after current balances. I’m more interested in history like, has this address even showed up before?
If anyone wants a copy without limits, I've linked the latest version here.
Didn’t know that file had a download limit. Thanks for the heads up!
I've seen a lot of people asking how to check balances for tons of bitcoin addresses. Like, if you've got a list of thousands, what's the trick?
- Setting Up a Bitcoin Mining RigSep 11, 2019
I saw a post before where a miner shared his entire setup. It was super motivating and gave me a simple idea of how to start mining. You should check that out too, it might really help you!
Yeah, but if you use known info like birthdays as part of a key, you’re just weakening your security. Entropy is key, don’t forget that!
But BIP39 isn’t just about iterations, it’s a bridge from random numbers to readable phrases. The private key is the real deal, and the seed is just a fun way to represent it.
For real, I don’t get it. Private keys are already super secure. What’s the point of complicating things? It's just a dictionary for your key, right?
Always had a thing for mining... but man, the electricity costs here are killer! Is mining bitcoins with solar panels a feasible option? Just looking for some expert advice.
- Is Overthinking Stopping You from Investing?Jan 29, 2017
We can spend big on gadgets but hesitate to invest in Bitcoin. Why stress over future risks when we should be thinking about long-term value?
- Is Overthinking Stopping You from Investing?Jan 22, 2017
Is investing in Bitcoin really that tough? Lots of folks seem stuck thinking the price will just keep dropping, missing out on a chance to invest. Taking a bit of risk could really help them get started.
