Just set up bitcoin-core on my Ubuntu. It's version 25.0 and I’m wondering where all the files land after the install. Anyone know?
Where are files located after installing Bitcoin Core?

You don’t have to worry about it. When you first run Bitcoin Core, if it can’t find the data directory, it’ll ask you to set one up. Otherwise, it makes a default folder automatically.
That’s cool, but what about the actual bitcoin-core executable? Like, how does it know what to run then?
Yeah, there’s a line in the systemd file for bitcoind. But is that just a script or should it be an executable? Tried to move it to /usr/bin/bitcoind and got some error 203.
I saw something about that on Reddit. It talked about setting up data directories for systemd. The symlink in /snap/bin looked interesting too.
I think I messed up the snap install. I went through the Ubuntu Software instead of following a manual install. Gonna check that out later.
Totally makes sense. The snap method and the manual install aren’t giving the same results. I re-did it with the daemon method and it works now.

Had issues with the Snap version too, especially with Tor. The 23 or 24 versions didn’t play nice. The package seemed broken but I couldn't fix it.
Was it a connection issue? I’m running nodes via Snap and it’s all good. What did the logs say?

Nah, it was more about Tor's cookie file not being accessible for version 23. I opened a Github issue for it but never had time to dig deeper.
I’m not a fan of snap. They come with lots of permission headaches. I stick to standalone binaries or install them somewhere custom.

Can’t decide if I love or hate snap yet. It’s annoying when things break like that. Ubuntu seems to push snap a lot, though. Still figuring out its advantages.
