Hey everyone
I’ve been digging into Bitcoin’s price history a lot lately. Looks like we can split it into two main eras: A) the first five years from 2009 to late 2013 and B) from 2014 onward.
In the first era, the price skyrocketed, like 1500% annual growth avg. One dollar turned into a million! Plus, HODLing was the way to go, no doubt. And just saying the word BITCOIN meant something huge financially.
Was December 2013 a Milestone in Bitcoin's Price Journey?

I gotta say, trading in the later years isn’t really beating HODLing.
But if we break it down by quarters...
From day one in 2009 to the November 2013 peak, that’s like a 100,000x gain. After that, from January 2014 to December 2017 peak, that’s only a 170x.
Now, if we look at the December 2018 to 2021 peak, it’s like 16x, and since April 2021 to now, just 3x. So those last quarters might show better trading opportunities.
I don’t know, man. For 2014 to 2025, it’s a bit murky.
But if we’re talking those gains, the first five years were a million times increase, not just 100,000.
Also, from January 2014 to December 2017, more like 17x... not 170x. It’s a huge difference, honestly. 2014 feels much closer to 2025 than to 2012.
For me, 2017 was the real turning point. Bitcoin shot up from just over $1,000 to over $20,000 in December.
Then came 2021 when China banned mining and trading. That’s when all the skepticism hit hard, with Buffett and the media calling it a bubble and all that.
From January 2009 to December 2017, it’s a whopping 10,000,000x increase, averaging about 500% annually.
But then from January 2018 to April 2025, it’s only about 8x (35% annually). 500% vs 35%... not that far off from the 1500% vs 50% we saw earlier.
