So I’m curious about using Tor on exchanges like Hyperliquid. Can that work?
Using Tor on DEXs: Is It Safe?

How would they even seize your funds if it's a DEX? Sounds sketchy.

Honestly, Hyperliquid and others are not truly decentralized. You still need to deposit to an exchange-controlled address, so it’s not as private as it seems.
Exactly. You can't seize coins in your non-custodial wallet that's connected to a DEX, but good luck if governments want to freeze funds from smart contracts.
They definitely have terms against using VPNs or proxies to hide your location. Just a way to cover their backs, imo.

Wait, if I’m in the US and use a US VPN, is that cool? Like, I’m staying within the country, just different IP.
Nah, their ToS clearly says no VPNs if you're a US resident. They want to see your real residency, not just citizenship.

They might block known VPNs. If that happens, you’re out of luck trying to access without revealing your IP.
I think they’re fine with you using VPNs if you’re in an unrestricted country, but you’ll still get a warning.
True. They throw around that ‘decentralized’ term, but really it’s just using smart contracts to keep tabs on you.
It’s crazy. All these DEXs claim to be private but they don’t even support Tor. If you want to keep coins safe, stick with non-stable coins on DEXs.

So how do they verify where you’re logging from then? Gotta be some kind of tracking going on.
They don’t need KYC to track you. They just log IPs and restrict unknown ones.

First of all, a Bitcoin address can't reveal your identity. So why use Tor unless you're shady? DEXs are anonymous anyway unless you dig into their terms.

I doubt they’d seize coins just because you used Tor. But remember, keeping your wallet secure is on you. Watch out for phishing.
If they see unusual activity from Tor, they might flag your account. Just saying, using Tor can bring risk.
You have to be careful with privacy. Hyperliquid has metrics to check risk factors. Higher risk means more chances of getting blocked.
Lots of volume on Hyperliquid. People are trading big bucks and don’t seem to care about the risks. No KYC is a win for them.

So, if someone wants privacy but has a high-risk AML score, Hyperliquid might not be the best choice.

It's all about perception. Some folks think Hyperliquid is great while others see it as risky.
