Been using a couple of S9s to heat my house this winter. Tried freshening them up by replacing the cables from the control board to the hash boards and put in new Delta QFR1212GHE fans since I saw them recommended here. Now the miners keep restarting and show an error saying bosminer isn't running. Are these fans just not compatible?

Might wanna try reflashing with BraiinsOS. If you post the system and kernel logs, we can check why it’s restarting. Just remember to put the logs inside code tags, makes it easier to read.

Wow, so I guess the fans aren’t compatible, huh? Just got a shutdown notice: not enough fans.

What did you set for the fans? 1, 2, 3, or 4? If you have it set for two fans, try switching it to one, see if that helps.

You should definitely share both system and kernel logs. If it says there aren’t enough fans, your miner might not be detecting them right. No logs, no real analysis. Also, check these wire signals: - Black = -12V - Red = +12V - Yellow = Spd Signal - Blue = PWM Signal With a multimeter, check if the connections are solid.

Got the logs. Can't figure out why it’s not working. Specs seem the same as the fans I took off. I set my miner for 1 fan even though I plugged in 2, but it’s quieter with both running at lower RPMs. Using the S9s as heaters, they’re set at 700w. I take a fan off when I use them in the garage.

Honestly can’t find any reason for the restarts after swapping fans. I keep seeing an error that looks like firmware corruption. If the fans seem okay physically, why not disable the fan check? Or maybe just go back to the original firmware and test again. Those yellow and blue signals could be an issue too.

Put the old fans back on and now it works fine, so I doubt it’s a firmware issue. Got my refund for the new fans since they didn’t work as promised on the S9.
