S19 Hydro Miners: Are They Worth It?

Hey all I’ve been eyeing the S19 Hydro lately because the price is pretty low. The idea of remote cooling is super appealing. I can swap out my three old miners for one of these and get double the hashrate. But how reliable are these things?

S19 Hydro is definitely more efficient compared to air-cooled miners, but it uses more power. You gotta keep an eye on those cooling tanks too, leaks can ruin everything. Best to set them up close to good water sources and in places that breathe, or else you won’t get the most out of your setup. ZEUS MINING has them up for sale.

I found a decent cooler on AliExpress for a hydro miner. Costs about 550 bucks... It’s a single unit setup, and it could handle the heat well. Just a heads up, you’ll need the right voltage going, like 240 volts, not 208. Also, Zeus has the S19 XP Hydro at 257 TH, but no idea on that price.

I think the OP means the non-XP model, which is in the 130-150 TH range. They’re cheap to get, I’m seeing around 8.5 bucks per TH, which is about 0.3 cheaper than the air-cooled S19. But honestly, hydro cooling isn’t as straightforward as air cooling. It’s more effective but setting it up right can get pricey. A lot of folks stick to what they know with air.

Totally agree, hydro cooling seems more for big operations... I’ve been tempted to try it, but I don’t want to dive deep into the setup. Plus, the investment could turn out rough if things go south. Not everyone wants to mess with water cooling.

I got burned on a liquid cooler I ordered from OctoMiner. Not trying to gamble with AliExpress coolers, but a liquid-cooled setup for 5500 watts would be killer for my solar biz partners. Thinking of whipping up a demo rig just to test it out.
