Hey everyone! 👋 Last I heard, a nearby shop removed their ATM. I want to find a machine where I can put in 20, 40, or 50 quid and top up a hard wallet. Any suggestions?
Almost all illegal Bitcoin ATMs got shut down in the UK. Maybe that shop was part of the 2022 crackdown. Not really sure how to kickstart this biz though. Maybe check that link to see how to start a Bitcoin ATM business?
UK has some of the strictest crypto laws lately. The FCA even said all crypto ATMs must go. I doubt it’s possible to run them now with MICA coming into play in the EU.
Yeah, the reality is there are no Bitcoin ATMs operating in the UK anymore. Why go for ATMs instead of an exchange though? Higher fees and daily limits. If you're avoiding KYC, check out Bisq or Peach.
UK isn’t in the EU, and MICA doesn’t apply here. All ATM operators had to register with UK’s MLR scheme, but they bailed instead. Why not just hop over to Rotterdam for your cash needs?
Even if they were up and running, they wouldn’t help you out much. Might as well check apps like Peach Bitcoin to see local offers or find some crypto cards without KYC.
The rules are really tight on Bitcoin ATMs here. Anything crypto related has to be FCA approved. Better to use something like Peach Bitcoin or P2P systems. Just be aware of daily limits with banks.
That ATM operator’s in jail, so chances of getting legit ATMs back in the UK are slim. They got shut down for reasons like money laundering. So yeah, ATMs are a no-go.
One reason they got banned is that many users were either getting scammed or involved in shady stuff. Honestly, I don’t see the point of using ATMs with those fees. If privacy's the goal, go for decentralized exchanges.
Why bother with an ATM in such a KYC-heavy area? If you’re using a VPN, online services might be easier. If cash is a must, consider going somewhere else.
I looked up UK rules on Bitcoin ATMs. They really don’t want them around. If I’m right, no ATMs are running since the shutdown, unless secretly hidden. Just use a legit exchange to avoid issues.
You should really think twice about this. Being in the UK and trying to operate an ATM could land you in hot water. It’s illegal there, so don’t risk it.
What were they up to, trafficking or something? 😂 But seriously, the BTC scene has a lot of corrupt players, and I’m not about to let my info get sold off.
Honestly, the odds of a legit face-to-face Bitcoin deal are low, especially with all the wrench attacks happening. But Bisq doesn’t require KYC, so check that out!
BTC ATM providers require KYC to comply with regulations. You usually need ID for larger transactions anyway and the fees suck too. Not the best option for you.
Bitcoin ATMs charge insane fees for both buying and selling. Not competitive at all compared to other methods. Seriously, no one wants to get hit with those high service charges.
