Issues with Asin A1 Miners

Anyone here dealt with the Asin A1? I’ve got two and they keep tripping the breakers after running nonstop for over a week. Kinda hesitant to buy another PSU if this is how they perform...

What’s the amp rating of your breaker? Are they on separate circuits or the same one? Remember, breakers are usually rated for around 80% continuous load. So if you’ve got a 20A breaker, it should ideally handle 16A max, right? And if both miners are on one circuit, you might be pushing it too hard. Just saying...

Yeah, I’d suggest running just one miner to test it and see if that trips the breaker. If you’re just slightly over the amp limit, it might run fine for a while before tripping.

Looks like I have two main breakers for my plugs, both rated at 80A 30mA. I’ve been running them one at a time, but I just added an S9K. The first A1 tripped first, maybe it had a faulty PSU. The other one ran fine for over two weeks before tripping. I noticed it outputs 2200W. Oh, and my washing machine’s on the same breaker as the miner, which could be an issue.

Are you in the US or somewhere else? In the US, most breakers over 15A are for heavy appliances like microwaves or fridges. You can use an Ohm’s Law app to check your load and make sure you’re not too close to the limit. If your breakers are still tripping, maybe double-check all the wiring is tight.

Wait, when you say 2200, are you talking about voltage or wattage? What’s the outlet voltage? Might be worth getting an electrician to set up a dedicated circuit for your miners, just to be safe.

Oh, I meant the miners use 2200W. I was using a surge protector with them but heard that’s a no-go for miners. Not sure if that’s true. I’ve been running my Antminer S9K without one for three weeks.

Gotcha. So I’m guessing you’re using 120V outlets? A 15A breaker can handle about 1800W safely, but it can trip if you push it. A 20A breaker gives you more wiggle room but still needs to be derated for continuous use.

Thanks for the insight, philipma1957. Just so you know, the breaker for my sockets can handle 32A. Think that’s still not enough?

You still haven’t clarified if you’re on 110/120V or 220/240V. That changes everything.

Alright, so 32A at 240V gives you 7680W, but at 80% safety, you’re down to 6144W. If you’re pulling 2200W for each miner plus another load, that’s 5700W total. Should work fine if nothing else is on that circuit.
