I’ve got 42663 blocks, 8 connections, and yes, I’m generating. Bitcoin shows 50-80 CPU usage, but only on two cores. Running it over Tor, by the way.

Not getting any coins after 8 hours in a VM on two cores isn’t unusual. Keep it running, give it a few days and you should see some results!
