Great topic! Compressed air energy storage might be the way to go. Just saw a system in China that connects to the grid. Not sure if it’s available for consumers yet, but it’s definitely something to think about.
Yeah, scaling that up would be tricky. Tesla systems are pricey and those glass mat batteries weigh a ton. I remember a dude who bought used golf cart batteries and refurbished them for cheap. Bulky but effective.
The US has been doing this for years. They use underground caverns and old mines to store compressed air. It's a lot of energy when you have huge storage, just search for compressed air energy storage.

But isn't the efficiency low? If you're not recovering heat, it’s a mess. Who wants to deal with all that maintenance when you could just use batteries? Plus, Tesla Powerwalls cost an arm and a leg.

You gotta crunch the numbers to see if it’s worth it. Solar and storage setups are super pricey without subsidies. Compressed air is pretty inefficient too.
Nah, it’s not a joke. It’s like pumped-storage hydro, just a different medium. Sure, it needs energy to pump, but it can still be over 50% efficient. It’s about storing excess energy for later.

Depends on your space and commitment. I know someone with a small house that filled his basement with old 12V batteries. He can run his place for days. Tesla Powerwalls are cool, but you can repurpose stuff.

Electricity costs are skyrocketing and it’s discouraging for miners. Any additional power source is golden. Gotta be smart about the budget.
In this case, it’s a joke. Compressed air is useful only if you have power you can’t use at the moment. Otherwise, it’s just wasteful. Batteries make more sense.
Norway’s got it good, huh? Low poverty, high taxes. Fuel prices are wild, but electricity varies by region.

Seriously? Someone put a water barrel on their roof for power? That’s a laugh. Unless you’ve got a skyscraper, good luck storing energy for days.
That’s not the point. I’m looking for alternatives to standard batteries. There’s gotta be something better.

I get that, but this whole idea seems off. No secret solution exists. Basic options are batteries for electricity, and mechanical systems like air or water.
Yeah, the guy’s channel is mostly experimental. He probably didn’t expect to get much power from that tank. Efficiency is key, and using a pump instead of a battery seems off.

Lithium batteries can last 1500 cycles or more, depending on how you use them. There’s a market for used batteries too, not just new ones.
More cycles mean higher prices. Local markets vary, can’t find large lithium batteries around here. Anyone know the price for a 100a battery?

It’s about usage. Partial discharges are easier on batteries. If you overdesign your system, you end up paying more. Math is essential.
I did my research on power outages. There's a sweet spot for depth of discharge to maximize cycles. Plus, temperature matters a lot.
Always check the manufacturer’s specs. Companies hide info when selling batteries. I got an offer for German batteries that seemed off.
