Ray Dalio is onto something, but I think he might be missing the mark now. Bitcoin is becoming more mainstream and honestly, kids growing up will probably see no difference between gold and bitcoin. To them, they’ll just be similar assets.
Bitcoin vs Gold: The Future of Wealth

Hey, some dude already made a thread on this topic. You're kinda late to the party. Check out what @Oshosondy posted. Would love to see your thoughts over there.
Sure, Dalio’s got a point about hard assets competing but calling bitcoin and gold the same? Nah. They’ve got different mechanics. Gold’s this age-old, heavy thing while bitcoin is all about the internet, easy to move and verify.
Exactly! Both are stores of value but bitcoin fits in the digital age way better. Moving it around is super easy, which is why it's used in places like online betting where speed matters.
Everything can't be black and white. Gold and bitcoin can exist together. I own both! Bitcoin has a long way to go to match gold’s status though... I mean, gold's cap is like 30 trillion, and bitcoin's only at 1 trillion.
Right on! Those future kids will see both as just regular investments by 2050. And bitcoin might chill out on volatility as liquidity increases.
Interesting take. You can actually buy gold using bitcoin tech. I got some Paxos Gold and Tether Gold tokens. They could totally be tied into a bitcoin chain.
Yes! If things keep heading the way they are, we could see a big market cap which will lower volatility. More demand means more stability.
True, the similarity is in value storage. Gold's been that way forever. Supply increases slowly because of mining, while bitcoin supply is capped, which could make it more valuable long-term.
Dalio seems to act like bitcoin's here to fight fiat. But it’s more of an alternative, not a direct threat to traditional currency.
Honestly, just having a fixed supply doesn't mean bitcoin will outshine gold. It’s all about demand and acceptance. Gold has a strong, enduring demand that keeps its price up.
I disagree. Just because supply is fixed doesn't mean value will rise. Look around, tons of altcoins are worthless due to lack of demand. Not sold on the fixed supply theory being the magic trick for bitcoin's value.
