Bitaxe heat management during summer months

Been running a few Bitaxe units at home and the heat management vs efficiency seems pretty good to me. Curious if anyone else with small ASICs is dealing with similar stability in summer. Happy to drop my logs if that would help anyone.

Replacing the stock cooling system with something better and using Arctic MX-4 or MX-6 thermal paste should solve most issues. But, summer temps can be wild, so not sure if you’ll hit 40°C.

Trust me, they’ll overheat in the summer for sure (ask me how I know). At the very least, swap out that thermal paste. If you get obsessed with it, you might end up doing custom cooling. I’ve made 3D printed stands and cooling parts. Once you nail your cooling setup, they should run well in summer without losing too much efficiency.

I’m thinking about dropping the hashrate to 800 or 850 GH/s to keep temps in check! During the hottest days this summer, I stayed around 60 to 65°C... usually I’m at 41.

If it’s crazy hot for a long stretch, yeah, dial down the chip frequency. But if it’s just a few weeks of heat and your chip temps are good, no need to change anything. You don't wanna lower your hashrate for no reason.

I think I'll just keep my current settings. Like they say, run it until it breaks, right? Plus, might hit the jackpot before a fork or something big happens... it feels like a lottery!

I’d avoid overheating those chips. If your temps are fine, leave it. If you can, change the thermal paste before summer; it’ll help drop the temp a bit more. Just don’t burn out your chips following my tips.
